Pokhara/Shangri-La/Holiday

Hello everybody,

Hope you are well. Quickly an update before I leave Pokhara for Khorbari once again -

No trip to Kathmandu as Govinda from the office there called the day before I planned to go that he had managed to read the report I emailed down to him and happy to discuss on the phone... happy for me to go back to Khorbari and try to get all the things off the ground which I suggested - irrigation system, proper training and cow farm, also promoting enterprises which we have identified as being more profitable - vegetable farming being 10 x more profitable than the rice and maize they are growing now!! So lots of scope. Just depends on how lucky we are with funding.

It's been a good, relaxing time here in Pokhara, have stayed much longer than intended, enjoying the beautiful views...

A few trips around and about
(Bagnas Lake)

Even a trip to another farm - this one growing lychees and coffee

And of course lots of fun with all at Shangri-La...

fire spirals with burning sticks from bonfire in the garden

Munching on sugar cane

Rachel, your money and times tables games before they got dog-eared! I am sure I will be reprinting a few more times... : )

Decorated new first floor! New extension has been busy with painters, is now looking beautiful and ready to be plumbed and lighted. Fantastic news this week was that we got confirmation of funding from 2 trusts to rent the whole extension and fully furnish it. Exciting to be able to spread out in a couple of months and take on more children!

Time to say goodbyes to everyone there for the next few weeks.

With lots of love, and thought as always,
